The training course was related to youth entrepreneurship and the competences that youth workers, leaders and volunteers should have when working in the theme with young people.
Within Europe, especially the countries in the Mediterranean Region are experiencing a rising level of unemployment, mostly among young people. The applicant organisation together with the partners were very aware of the situation and focused our activities on this sense, meaning how through youth activities young people can really gain new skills and competences that can make them more employable within the job market. However, there is also another level of employablity that is connected with entrepreneurship and the sense of initiative. We believe that through Erasmus+, young people can enhance their creativity, innovative thinking and together with their self-initiative they can produce themselves the environment in which they can become self-autonomous and bring into reality their ideas, either connected with employment but also through other initiatives that can be connected with social movements, personal ideas and projects.
For this reason, we designed and implemented this project to tackle this issue and give the necessary skills to youth workers, leaders and volunteers but also other professionals that work with young people in order to be able to work with young people in a way that they can pass them from the know-how, the motivation, the inspiration and the skills to taking things from ideas to action and realisation.
Accordingly, we addressed the main priorities of Erasmus+ being entrepreneurship but also the target groups of the partners that were disadvantaged youth facing long term unemployment or that for different reasons have little to no access to opportunities and space for employment and where they could put their creative and entrepreneurial mind in action.
Finally, the methods used in the training were non-formal ones, at the same time promoting the understanding of young people that come together from different countries but where they share a lot in common, this being the positive parts of the European dimension and the liberty of ideas and opportunities but also the hot issues that all young people face at the moment in Europe, and that is a not very positive look in the future and employment insecurity.
