City of Youngsters- trilateral youth exchange Rautavaara, Finland Partners: Finland, Spain, Norway, 35 participants. Age of the participants: between 15-20 years. Theme: *ecology *active participation of young people During this six days youth exchange young people from three different countries will learn to respect the nature and get familiar with how nature can provide us food. They also will get a chance to show pieces of their own cultures and explain how it affects their everyday life. Our activities offer an opportunity to try and learn these skills in the most basic way. This youth exchange is the second meeting with this group. First exchange, City of youngsters was organized in Murcia, Spain 2014. Some of our planned activities are hiking, picking berries and mushrooms, fishing, camping, rowing, swimming, visiting The Martha organization in Joensuu and preparing food in their guidance and visiting an eco farm in Puukarinpysäkki. At the end of the week we’ll do a digital story of all the places and activities we did during the week. This digital story will be published in Youtube and in the websites of our organizations. With this digital story we want to introduce Erasmus+ youth exchange to other young people in our communes. On the background of this project in an idea from the youngsters of youth house in Joensuu. They wanted to organize an international event, learn English skills and get to know some other cultures and people from other countries. We hope that on regional level youth would get more courage to use languages and they would inform the other youngsters about these kinds of possibilities to participate and be an active citizen. In Joensuu youth services we think that international youth work is only seen in administrative level, but there’s no grassroots activities, that is something we want this project to influence on, after all, its a programme for young people. In most parts of Joensuu region there is no international youth work at all, even though the city is big and we have plenty of youngsters. We would like to bring alive the habit of using the international possibilities. Eventually, international youth work will just enrich the work done in the youth centres, but we need to get it started well first! Our desire is long-term cooperation with various countries in Europe and International. Exploring several programs within the EU's youth program and use the experience and knowledge to develop a good and active youth in their own municipalities.
