Nature Based Entrepreneurs and Vocational Education Training Providers Learning and Working Together (ENVOLWE)

Increasing cooperation between enterprises and VET is highlighted in various EU and national policies. The most of the VET organisations are involved in this cooperation, however, they have focused mostly on operating with larger companies. Small and micro enterprises are not properly involved in this cooperation nor benefiting from it, even though approx. 91% of companies in EU can be classified as microcompanies and their role in regional and rural economics has found to be essential. Especially seasonal microcompanies have good possibilities to participate to VET cooperation in various forms depending on needs and requirements of VET system. One typical small and micro enterprise sector with identified lack of this cooperation is nature-based entrepreneurship (NBE). The current best practices for enterprise-VET cooperation are developed for larger companies or are in very general level. These models should be modified for enhancing systematically the VET-micro enterprise -cooperation. The project will focus on transferring and further developing organisational innovations in VET sector by collecting together existing good innovative practises for cooperation between entrepreneurs and VET identified by the partner organisations from their countries. These experiences and knowledge of existing cooperation models will be complemented by the models and tools developed in more general level by previous initiatives, like Leonardo funded NEMO-project. The good practices will be modified to fit enhancing especially the cooperation between micro enterprises and VET in practical level, and they will be piloted in NBE sector in 5 countries. In addition a long-term development plans based on the piloted models will be made. The project will be carried out by a consortium including combination of players in LLL, NBE and rural development sectors from 7 different countries. The partnership consists of lead/research partner, 5 VET-partners, including the lead partner of NEMO-project, and 3 dissemination network partners. The roles of the partners have been divided according to their expertise: the VET-partners will pilot the cooperation models in practical level, research/lead partner will guarantee the objective evaluation of existing good practises and the dissemination partners will focus on dissemination and feedback activities. The overall objective is to increase the quality and attractiveness of VET by systematically strengthening the cooperation between VET and micro enterprises and provide tools for it. The strengthened cooperation will also improve the competitiveness of both VET and micro enterprises. As a result of the project there will be documented piloted models for VET-microenterprise cooperation and guidelines and piloted process descriptions for long term cooperation. These will be compiled to European Handbook for Successful VET and small & micro enterprise cooperation and disseminated widely to the target groups.
