The project focuses on: • natural and cultural information resources of the lagoons • their transnational usage• structuring this information to provide a holistic approach for a maritime cultural landscape • symptomatics of lagoons• basis for a unique tourism development of Baltic lagoons • Synergetic aspects of similar geographical regions in the EU are expected• This will be done by using regional and cultural landscape perspectives and not only national or political ones.• overcome political, linguistic, disciplinary (nature versus culture) borders• locating information, interpreting information, structuring and relating/linking and distributing information• database system• cooperation of not only international partners but also key players from scientific research (collecting information), museal presentation (interpreting, synthesizing, and presenting information) and tourism boards (using and deploying information) Achievements: The Lagomar network established so far has become one of the main information holders of historical potential in the research area of the Lagoon. The communes as well as the tourism board accepted the Lagomar network as an important tool for regional development. The Lagomar network assist and help several times by improving regional museum structures.
