My life in Europe, Europe in my life"

End date: Sep 30, 2015
PROJECT
FINISHED
Our project ‘My life in Europe, Europe in my life’ is the project of a whole village. Not only would our European partners be welcomed by the young people of our village, but also by their families, our municipality, the different organisations of the village, the local shops and farmers who are all ready to take part in this project to welcome Europe in its diversity.
In total, we will be 42 youngsters (7 from each partner organization, and 14 from Fontanès) all aged 14 to 17 years old. Each group shall be accompanied by one leader.
The main objectives of this project are as follows:
- To get all the participating members to analyse and confront their visions of Europe through their identities, their cultural, political and social backgrounds.
- To allow young people to consider the impact of Europe in their daily lives.
- To reflect on their own position within Europe: ‘Where do I stand? What is my role, my future in Europe?’
- To ask ourselves: ‘Where am I? Where do I live? What does Europe do for me? What can I do for Europe?’
- To imagine ‘how I can take part in the construction of the future of Europe that corresponds to my expectations?’
All these aspects will be looked at through workshops and activities with informal educational methods organised in international groups, teams or pairs so that everyone gets the opportunity to experience intercultural relationships in a real, intense and permanent way. The working methods will emphasise cooperation and solidarity rather than competition.
The impact of this exchange will be not only experienced by each member taking part in the activities but also by the whole population of the village. Welcoming European citizens from different countries to share our life here and being able to discover their cultures could allow every one of us to rethink our own vision of Europe and to an extent, have a more positive and more exact perception by asserting and valuing our own unique and specific place within this entity. Sharing convivial moments, our reflections about ourselves and discovering other cultures will allow us and the other countries taking part to have a better understanding of our world and to grow in maturity.
