Movilidad Juvenil y Cultura Tecnológica en Majadahonda
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Oct 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS hosting project "Youth Mobility and Technological Culture in Majadahonda" is part os the programmes of the Youth Service of Majadahonda Town Council, residential town of 70.000 people in the outskirts of Madrid (17 km. from the city center). The general objetictive of the project has been the dissemination of youth information in the field of mobility, carrying out activities to inform about different possibilities to go abroad, like those which gives the Erasmus + programme. Another aim has been to improve the access to information, especiallyabout employment programmes for young people, leisure time and educational activities. Finally, this project aimed to promote spaces for sharing knowledge around technology and its application in the local community. The venue of the project has been the Youth Center "Príncipe de Asturias" where there are different services and programmes aimed to youngsters from 12 to 30 years old, although some activities have been held in secondary schools of our town. The methodology used was the Non-Formal Education, promoting values education and making the young people be responsible for their own learning process and personal development. This project has hosted two european volunteers from Croatia and Sweden (26 and 27 years old) , and has lasted 10 months, from Septemebr 2014 to July 2015, coinciding during the academic year, when most of our activities take place. With our project we have tried to continue our trajectory hosting european volunteers, started in 2009/2010, improving the quality and usefulness. This project provide an added value to our programmes and we think that the participation of european young people in our town has enabled: - Create relationships and knowledge of other cultures to the youth of the town. - Promote the mobility programmes such as EVS and volunteering in general. - Enrich our projects with the vision and contributions of foreign youth. - Provide to young foreigners the opportunity to participate in EVS actvities in Spain. - To support the adquisition of skills to improve accessibility to employment. The project topics have been: Youth information and youth policy, new technologies and digital competences and intercultural education and lifelong learning. The main activities that have been developed are: - Support the Office for International Programmes (OPIM): > Promotion and management of the Erasmus + program, especially in the EVS and Youth Exchanges actions. >Public attention: information and advice on youth mobility. > Activities in the town: briefings and workshops on mobility (Erasmus +, International Volunteering, etc) and informative sessions in secondary schools. - Support Digital Media Lab "Majadalab": > Coderdojo: programming club for children and youth. > Technology Workshops > Digital Creation activities - English conversation workshops aimed to young people from 12 to 30 years old. - Support the dissemination of the Youth Center activities (secondary schools, social media, designing posters, etc.) The accomplishment of this project has meant a benefit for the people and organisations directly involved (participants, sending and host organisations) and for people who have had contact and relationship with the volunteers, as they have been able to know first-hand experience and learning about other cultures. On the other hand, this project is a reinforcement for Youth Erasmus + programme in our area, as young people and organisations can know directly and is a good promotion for it. Regarding the activities of the center, to host european volunteers is an enrichment for it, and we have reached a large number of young people through information sessions at the Youth Center and High Schools, in which the volunteers have participated telling their experience and encouraging other young people to participate.
