Sustainable transport is vital to maintaining the environmental and economic health of rural areas, as well as to ensuring the access of both inhabitants and potential visitors to key services such as employment, education and healthcare.Rural areas policy-makers have come to realise that the lack of sustainable mobility schemes is a cross-cutting element which affects every development strategy implemented in rural territories; no matter how much effort is expended on areas such as education, promotion of tourism or development of new economic initiatives, the lack of a sustainable (from the environmental, social and economic perspectives) transport pattern has severely hampered every development initiative. MOVE ON GREENs overall objective is to improve the design and effectiveness of regional policies on sustainable transport in rural areas, through an exchange of experiences aimed at fostering sustainable mobility from the environmental, social and economic points of view.13 partners - 12 regional governments and decission-making bodies of low-density European areas with a high environmental value, plus Euromontana- will cooperate through MOG to develop feasible strategies and policies in the field of sustainable transport. The transferability of the results to the rest of Europes rural areas is ensured: solutions which are feasible for the extreme rural areas in the MOG partnership can be replicated in other rural areas subject to fewer limiting factors. The adoption of sustainable transport schemes by European rural areas would, in the long term, have a significant positive impact on both the environment and on the social and economic conditions of rural territories. MOG partners were selected on the basis of two possible criteria: the relevance of their experience and awareness of the theme, or their urgent need for solutions despite their lack of experience.Via videoconferences and daily exchanges an initial appraisal of experiences has been carried out during the preparation phase.MOGs main activities are, in addition to those related to the administrative, legal and financial tasks in the project, ongoing strategic communication and dissemination activities and activities aimed at fostering an exchange of experiences. The main outputs will be a guide of good practices mutually discussed on sustainable transport, a set of policy guidelines for sustainable transport in rural areas, 12 implementation plans, 4 thematic seminars plus 5 study visits, one another exchange event specifically devoted to transfer through the organisation of bilateral meetings plus kick-off meeting and final conference as well as the communication material produced. The main expected result is the improvement of regional policies for sustainable transport in rural areas, through increased awareness and knowledge by authorities, stakeholders and citizens. Achievements: The MOVE ON GREEN project began in January'12 with the aim of exchanging good practices concerning sustainable transport in depopulated rural areas. MOVE ON GREEN partnership is comprised of twelve governments from the most depopulated European regions from nine countries and a Euronet as an appropriate instrument for the effective and efficient dissemination. It has become evident that the project partners share similar challenges in sustainable transport in depopulated rural areas even if competences at regional / provincial level may somehow differ. Since the project was presented, the current economic situation has made the problem targeted by the project even worse, if possible; the many budgetary cuts in all the European regions have directly affected the transport sector, where the economic side of the activity is difficult to sustain due to the lack of critical mass and therefore all the project partners urgently need to find new formulas for transport. The kick-off meeting was held in March'12, in Teruel, with the participation of more than 30 people representing all the partners. The current transport situation of each one of the territories involved in the project was presented, as well as their needs, deficiencies and the main problems they face. It was clearly seen that the problems and needs, despite the cultural, territorial and environmental differences, are similar, so the solutions to be sought (experiences and polices) are mutual and may be applied in all the participating territories. The kick-off represented the decision-making to execute the tasks to be carried out, both with respect to the communication CP2 managed by PP6, and the CP3 ones managed by LP . All the actions were agreed among all the partners. LP would be responsible for organising and designing the methodology to be followed by all the partners and PP6 would be responsible for coordinating all the actions aimed at the communication and dissemination. With respect to communication CP2, the bases were laid, coordinated and managed by PP6 1. Opening of an online collaborative working area on Wiggio.com. 2. Logo and communication templates. 3. MOG brochure. In total, 13 versions were prepared 1 per partner. Printing will be done during second period. 4. Preparation of a MOG contact list.. For greater efficiency, every partner will be in charge of its own contacts, 5. MOG newsletter. During the first period the design of the newsletter could not be finalised; it was finalised during the second semester. 6. Press release and press contacts.7. Integration of the MOG into the general communication of Euromontana 7. PP6 has informed its network of the MOG project: • News was posted in English and French on Euromontana website on 05/04/2012 after the kick-off of the project and on 21/12/2012 to announce the approval of the project. • Regular update on the progress of MOG is made to the board of Euromontana orally and with written notes MOG has also been presented orally on the occasion of meetings with organisations outside the membership. The addresses of the MOG website and of the MOG fan page on Facebook have also been integrated into the signature of emails for better dissemination. 8. Website. PP6-Euromontana is in charge of launching and updating the MOG website.. 9. Social networks – Facebook. PP6- Euromontana opened the MOG fanpage on Facebook 17 May 2012. Since then, PP6-Euromontana has regularly enriched the page with information relating to sustainable transport in rural and mountain areas, posting 7 posts during the first period. LP designed the work methodology for C3. This methodology was approved among all partners by videoconference, wiggio, e-mail... The work methodology is based on a series of common templates and specific instructions. The work methodology of phase 1 for CP3 was materialised as follows in points l.8 Further information.
