Our school is one of the 7 agricultural high schools giving education in the field of animal health and veterinary health in Turkey. Our grad students can easily find job as a veterinary health technician or in private sector. Our school, which is the only one in Black Sea Region, provides education to whole region with its pension. Artificial insemination is one of the fields in which our school gives training. Our grad students implement the artificial insemination by themselves while working in the area. There is one veterinary hospital and one veterinary surgeon working at the school. Our hospital which has three clinics provides also to farmers in the area. Artificial insemination is among the issues which our school attaches great importance to. The success rate of the artificial insemination in the world is around 60 percent. However, this rate is quite low in our country. With this project, practices in Europe were seen on-site, our teachers and students got more information and experience.
As a part of the project, three different teams containing 45 individuals in total got trainings about the artificial insemination which is implemented in Czech Republic, Belgium and Sweden which proved themselves in the field of animal breeding. We paid special attention to choose our foreign partners from countries which are developed about artificial insemination and implement it.
Our partner in Sweden is Sweden Farmers? Federation. European institutions like Lantbrukarnas Riksförbund-LFR COPA and COGECA are active members of Farmers? Cooperatives in Brussels. LRF takes an active role globally in politics of International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Sweden Farmers? Federation is an organization holding 170.000 members and 90.000 businesses and operating in the green industry. This is some kind of umbrella organisation on the top of small businesses in Sweden. This was chosen because of the fact that it is a big institution which is a pioneer in the field of animal breeding and giving trainings in artificial insemination.
Our partner in Czech Republic is an Agriculture Association which is in the agricultural area of the country. This institution in the area which is the agricultural and stocking breeding area of Czech Republic gets help from agriculture institute and gives training with these helps. Partner institution provided us with the chance of seeing different practices especially by organizing business and institute trips about artificial insemination.
VAC which gives expertise service, training and consultancy for establishing private family farms is our partner in Belgium. It provides service to farmers and producers. This institution, which supports small businesses by giving trainings and consultancy about sales and marketing, helps small businesses to merge with big businesses.
VAC arranges trainings especially about consultancy, sales and marketing, modern artificial insemination methods and care, new methods and productivity in stockbreeding for its member farmers. This partner institute of ours provided us with chance of seeing different practices especially about artificial insemination by arranging business and institute trips.
With this project, Veterinary Health Technician Surgeons from primarily our city and around the country had a chance to make use of their colleagues? experiences from Europe, and they were be able to certify their skills with a certificate which has international validity. On the way back, they shared their knowledge and skills which they acquired in Europe with their colleagues in our city, our partners? areas and in our country.
As a result, they contributed to increase the amount of cross race animals? and fertile cultivation by approaching the number and quality of artificial insemination in Samsun to the European standards. Consequently, this project improved stockbreeding by increasing the amount of stockbreeding in our city and country.
