The project “ Innovative models applying in education systems, focusing on environmental education to the students, targeting biodiversity conservation and rational use of natural resources ” ,has been designed to meet the training needs of teachers/ trainers in Bucharest ,in the field of education for biodiversity sustainable development . Sustainable education should be acknowledged as a new ethics training ,meant to ensure the definition and understanding of this concept, action to be coupled with theoretical content materialization/ operationalization and efficient educational activities. The assessment of training needs in the field of education for sustainable development has been achieved by organizing meetings with teachers/ local trainers, by consulting the head teachers of our members’ schools , NGOs activating in education and local authorities, analysis which revealed a clear need to integrate the concept and examples of good practices into the teaching approach. This project is innovative because it involves education as a basic means in developing and strengthening the capacities of individual/ group/ community/ organizational in judging and making favorable options to ensure long- term development , meeting the teachers’ needs of information and action in the field of sustainable education ,and the need to support the development of present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The main objectives of the project are: the transfer of skills and knowledge from Archipelagos Institute towards the members of the target group in order to design a model and activities for the development of a sustainable use of biodiversity, to integrate these activities and knowledge in formal/ non- formal educational systems in Bucharest for supporting the biodiversity sustainable development; designing a guide on pedagogical practices for sustainable development; training a total of 24 people to implement and sustain the Local Strategy for a long- term development of biodiversity ,by promoting a model of cooperation either in education , or within the community ,ensuring sustainable development in the EU- Bucharest region. The target group members are: ADDE staff, school inspectors/ methodologists, teachers with experience in education and training system with competences in educational management, competences in teamwork , communication, foreign languages, IT skills ( MS Office, Internet, power- point) ,experience in managing European projects and programs. The activities that occur during the mobility include: introducing the receiving partner (Archipelago Institute), as well as the sending partner ( ADDE), roundtables, workshops, local/ regional conferences, practical activities and discussions on sustainable development, comparative analysis of the curriculum in the field of sustainable development and active citizenship in both countries, presenting legislation on sustainable development of biodiversity , introducing the interventions and actions on how to comply with legislation on sustainable development; practical activities conducted in the Institute laboratory and in- lab vessel that is moving in the working areas in the Aegean for studying ecosystems. The pieces of information obtained by the participants , the models and examples of good practice presented by the Greek trainers will help develop new skills in education ,likely to lead to efficiency of own schools activities. Thus, participation in this project will have a direct impact over the educational system in Bucharest, towards improving school curricular offer by developing knowledge of new technologies through which school will promote sustainable education at community level. Designing the guide concerning pedagogical practices on sustainable education from biodiversity perspective will allow real sustainable development of biodiversity. The project results are: an active local partnership for sustainable development from the biodiversity perspective, an operational guide for Bucharest concerning pedagogical practices in the mentioned field and 24 people with improved competences for developing sustainable development educational programs. The project will impact the target group , the institutional level, as well as local/ regional / national and international level. ADDE will improve its institutional capacity by the fact that it will have well- trained members in order to design educational programs in the field of sustainable development , there will be a cultural exchange and relations among Romanian and Greek professionals in education will be developed.
