Model Visegrádské skupiny (Model of the Visegrad Group +)
Start date: Jan 1, 2016,
End date: Jun 30, 2016
PROJECT
FINISHED
Model of the Visegrad Group is a second year of a week-long project taking place in Prague, Czech Republic aimed at young people (university students) of V4 Member countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary). Based on a success from the previous year it adds in the list of the countries involved also participants from Germany and Austria making it V4+ simulation. From each country five participants will be selected through an opened call for applications. These students will gather to discover and experience the real decision-making process of the specific international alliance, learn various soft skills necessary to lead successful negotiations and speech delivery. This will be done through seminars, workshops, lectures, discussions and interactive activities (ice-breakers, games). The most important element of the project is four-day-long diplomatic simulation of the Visegrad Group meeting on present day topics. Students will step into roles of representatives of their respective countries and try to promote its interests. Aims and impactThe project will help the participants with their personal and professional development, allowing them to practice and enhance public speeches, rhetoric, presentation and argumentation skills or data research and critical analysis. By meeting with their counterparts from other countries, they will gain useful feedback from different points of view, forming new international friendship and discover neighboring cultures. Knowledge of the international or regional organizations and its functioning is, according to us, beneficial or even essential in today’s globalized world. By participation in this project, students will express their opinions and ideas, be initiative, learn from others around (peer-learning) and enhance their social and civic skills.Structure of the ProjectOur project will consist of preparatory phase, a week-long gathering and following evaluation phase. The gathering is divided into two parts: first three days are dedicated to introduction, seminars and discussions with various experts on soft skills development or related to V4+ agenda. Different means of non-formal education are going to be involved in this part as well.Following diplomatic simulation part is going to take place in the framework of the Prague Student Summit (PSS) which is the largest project of its kind in Central Europe and is focused previously on the three specific international institutions – United Nations, European Union and NATO. By organizing a second year, Model of the Visegrad Group became a fourth pillar of well-established project bringing an international aspect to previous Czech-students-only environment. Participants at the Model V4+ will have a unique opportunity to deliver a speech at the opening ceremony in front of the audience consisting of more than 400, including honorable guests such as politicians, ambassadors, experts of journalists.TopicsThe topics of the project are real present issues discussed at the international level and their selection was based on programme of the current Czech presidency of the Visegrad Group. It contains the following:- Digital Agenda- Cooperation in Military Affairs- Energy UnionParticipants will, however, be also able to amend the agenda as it could be done in real way of conduct. Discussion and negotiation will be based on Rules of Procedure (RoP) and facilitators will work as mere officials – by keeping the proper order, overseeing compliance with RoP, running the list of speakers etc. The subject and form of the debate is solely within hands of the students. On the other hand, advice, help or valuable personal inputs will be provided upon request at any time.Time and VenueThe gathering will take place in Prague, Czech Republic on 29.3.2015 – 4.4.2015. Venues of the project include the hotel conference room, Hotel Ambassador, Congress Centre Prague and city of Prague itself. In conclusion, we believe that our project reflects very well priorities of Youth in Action programme such as Active participation, civic society participation, platform for meeting of young people from different countries and cultures, encouraging young people to express themselves and change the world around them, to be initiative, to learn from others around (peer-learning), to communicate and express their opinions and ideas, to learn how to learn or to enhance their social and civic skills.
