PROJECT
FINISHED
The project concerned a two-week internship for the second and third year students of the Vocational Education and Life Learning Center in Kwidzyn ( Applicant Institution) and Secondary Vocational and Technical Schools nr 2 in Kwidzyn ( Polish Project Partner). The students of the Vocational Education and Life Learning Center got work experience as carpenters and car mechanics. The students of the Secondary Vocational and Technical Schools nr 2 in Kwidzyn gained work experience as hotel management and catering technicians, nutrition and food services technicians and tourism technicians. The teaching staff was also involved in the internship. First the departure of the project participants was planned to take place in October 2014 but only after we had got extra financial help our students could go to Germany in September/October 2015. The total number of 10 students ( 6 students of the Vocational Education and Life Learning Center and 4 students of the Secondary Vocational and Technical Schools nr 2 in Kwidzyn) and 2 supervisors ( 1 supervisor from the Vocational Education and Life Learning Center and the other one from the Secondary Vocational and Technical Schools nr 2 in Kwidzyn ) left for Celle on the 27th of September 2015 and came back to Poland on the 13th of October 2015. Students did their internship according to the German methodology under the supervision of experienced instructors. The students were assigned to companies in accordance with the field of their vocational school training. They improved their skills in workshops, in small groups, together with the German young students and skilled workers. Two Polish students – carpenters-had their vocational training in two joinery and carpentry companies, four car mechanics gained their experience in car workshops , two students worked in the hotel and two more students did the internship in a public nursing home. The project was carried out by the Vocational Education and Life Learning Center in Kwidzyn, Secondary Vocational and Technical Schools nr 2 in Kwidzyn and one of foreign schools from Celle, Germany- Partner 2 (P2) - Axel-Bruns-Schule Berufsbildende Schulen II, Celle (BBS II,Celle ) . Unfortunately Partner 3 (P3) – Albrecht-Thaer-Schule,Celle (BBS IV,Celle ) had to withdraw from the project because of the reorganization changes at school. The participants of the project were informed about that fact after the arrival in Celle. All responsibilities and tasks of the German partners were carried out by Partner 2 (P2).The primary goal of the project was to provide our students with education experience that could bridge the gap between their classroom learning and intended career. Gaining work experience in an overseas company facilitated their professional development, which was the major objective of the project. Our students had the opportunity to improve their command of English, especially for vocational purposes. They also got the chance to learn some basic German and get familiar with a new culture. We hope that the participation in the project will help our school graduates broaden their horizons and increase their mobility on the domestic and foreign labour markets. During the stay abroad, the participants of the vocational training project acquired new professional competence, skills and knowledge. Upon the completion of the internship they were awarded with Europass Mobility certificate as well as a foreign language course certificate verified by the school and overseas project partners. The participants of the project became more inter-culturally competent and gained the knowledge and skills which will inspire their professional development and make them more competitive and flexible on the changing labour market. We also hope that the participation in the project encouraged our students to continue their further education , improve their skills and increase qualifications. We are sure, the project will motivate the students to finish their secondary education, pass final exams and continue their education studying at universities, and the teachers will be also involved in widening their professional horizons.
