Project was implemented between 1st January 2015 and 31st of March 2016. It was addressed to young people from Poland, Spain, Georgia and Latvia, to develop future leaders of the European initiatives. Its main objective was the creation of a European Youth Club at the Association of Active Women in Sosnowiec, in which the young residents of the city and hosted volunteers from Georgia, Spain, Latvia could improve their social skills, participate in various activities and get involved in local and European citizens' initiatives. Young people from Sosnowiec, through contact with volunteers from Spain, Georgia and Latvia, were able to learn and to strengthen their sense of being not only a citizen of their country or of the local community, but first and foremost, members of the united Europe.
The objectives of the project:
- Increasing opportunities of youth for having a career and professional education outside their home country, in another cultural and social context
- Increasing professional competence, soft and hard work and volunteering in European youth initiatives
- Increasing the language, ICT, social, intercultural and civic competences
- Promoting a model of social activity among the youth of the local region
- Strengthening attitudes of tolerance and solidarity among young people of a united Europe
- Elevating, among the community of youth, an awareness of the benefits of participation in European Youth Initiatives
The European Youth Club (European Youth Club-EYC), within which various social and educational activities were organized, such as: trainings about the possibility to engage in European initiatives under the Erasmus programme +, seminars in the organization and in local schools about the educational opportunities offered by European Voluntary Service, educational meetings and trainings on effective implementation of youth initiatives, a socially engaged Film Club, participation in the meetings of the linguistic/language Café, study circle group, planning European projects, cultural evenings which presented cultural heritage of the countries participating in the project, intergenerational learning activities with Italian seniors (50+), the networking project - building partnerships with youth organisations from around the world, active participation in the cultural, social and public life of region and city, disseminating project results and the help during current work of the organization.
Three people, aged 22-25 years old, were invited to participate in the project: Spaniard Georgian and Latvian who showed an interest in European issues, youth, voluntary work abroad, the theme of active citizenship and social cohesion, tolerance, anti-discrimination and gender equality in all areas of life. In addition to the three volunteers who ran a European Youth Club, in the project took part a group of youth from Sosnowiec, consisting of 370 people, both high school and university students.
