The aim of the project "Young people together - equal and healthy" is to help young people with risky behavior, providing for them space where they are more able to communicate and social environment where they will be accepted without discrimination , to help create a new type social relations eliminating any form of discrimination and exclusion . On the other hand aims to give voice to their problems and especially the issue of the stigma that carry all AIDS possitive , drug users , sex workers , gay and transsexuals and other groups of youth at risk.
Volunteers will have the task to provide good social practices from their countries where the legislation much more protect and assist to the young people with risky sexual and social behavior. We will be looking for ways to implement these practices in the organization , in cooperation with local authorities and by bringing together volunteers to promote the fundamental values of the community - equality and respect for all people regardless of their social level and individual development .
The main activity of the project is a long-term volunteer service at 12 months , starting at 1st of July 2014, which will take place in the city of Sliven and smaller settlements in the area . Participants are three young people- two from Spain and one from Latvia and they will operate together with local youth club volunteers of the association "Thirst for life."
Volunteers will help with the social integration of young people with risky sexual behavior , drug users , homosexual and transsexual young people, will do a prevention of HIV / AIDS and sexually transmitted infections by preparation and dissemination of information materials, organization of lectures , participation in national campaigns and not least to promote volunteering and non-formal education for young people in Sliven District.
The project will contribute to improving the educational, social and cultural competencies of participants , will increase the capacity of the organization and will create new opportunities for non-formal education and training for young people interested in social sphera. The work of the volunteers with youth risk behavior and underprivileged situation will increase the sense of tolerance, both to themselves and the local community. This will help to remove barriers and acceptance of differences , whether cultural, religious, racial, sexual or otherwise. Intercultural dialogue created by the association" Thirst for life " and direct participants in the project will encourage other young people to be willing to learn about and experience the different cultures and places through volunteering.
