The overall objective of the project is to make young people aware of, and appreciate the European values as well as encourage them to become active European citizens through their involvement in initiatives that contribute to improving their employability and motivate them to participate in social life as active and informed citizens of Europe . The project is thematically linked to the specific objectives of the Programme "Erasmus +" in the sphere of youth which is associated with increasing levels of core competencies and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities and encouraging participation in democratic life in Europe and labor market participation, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity. A volunteer who has interests in the field of youth policies, youth information and communication, art and culture, which are the main fields of activity of Bratstvo 1869 Community Centre, Kyustendil, will take part in the project.Location of the activities: Bratstvo 1869 Community Centre, Kyustendil, Republic of Bulgaria. Duration of the project: 01-06-2016 - 30-09-2017 Duration of the action of the volunteer: 01-08-2016 - 31-07-2017Main activities of the volunteer: participation in Bulgarian language courses and musical instrument lessons, organizer of concerts, festivals, contests, campaigns, meetings with young people, exhibitions, round tables, implementation of volunteer’s own project to work with the target groups of Bratstvo 1869 Community Centre - children, youth and adults, development of volunteer’s own project to help people in the town of Kyustendil utilize their leisure time purposefully, supporting the work of Europe Direct Information Centre, supporting the work of the Youth Information and Counseling Center - Kyustendil, exchange of experience with volunteers from local youth organisations, implementing joint initiatives, etc. We expect the project to have a positive impact on the volunteer, the target groups that the volunteer will work with and the local community. Volunteering is a two way process - on the one hand the volunteer will acquire new knowledge of the Bulgarian culture and traditions, Bulgarian language, customs, local and national holidays as well as communication skills and competencies that contribute to their social and personal development, through their participation in the typical activities that Bratstvo 1869 Community Centre carries out. On the other hand, we expect the volunteer, through their activities, to have a positive impact on the target groups of Bratstvo 1869 Community Centre, the employees and the local community - by sharing their experiences and best practices, joint initiatives, presentation of the culture of their home country, etc.
