Youth exchange project " Mind the Winter " coordinated by NGO "Actio Catholica Patria" will be held in Utena region, Gražutė Regional Park Directory , Salako town. The estimated activity dates 14/02/2014 - 22/02/2014 : 9 days including travel days . The project will involve twenty Danish and Lithuanian young people with intellectual disabilities. All activities focus on the cognition of winter season and the knowledge of nature conservation and cultural heritage themes . Planned key activities: - Making Eco - bird feeders and hanging them in Gražutė Regional Park; - Experiential snow hike through woods and frozen lake ( youngsters will travel along with the park ecologist, will monitor animal activity traces in winter) ; - Ice fishing and fish soup cooking on the campfire according to each country traditions; - Meeting with the snow dogs ( Hasky's) , the opportunity to ride in a sledge pulled by dogs ; - "Fortune Gardens"( traditional lithuanian straw handcrafts) and paper lanterns workshops ; - Creation of colorful ice and snow sculptures and lanterns in Salako town center ; In activities following non-formal education methods will be used: group (group work), discussion, conversation, explanation, demonstration , games (including ice-breakers, energizers etc.), human cognition (selfasseemnet, reflection, evaluarion methods), self-employment, brainstorming, briefing, creativity boosting methods, problem solving and decision making, learning through outdoor activities. We believe that this project will encourage active youth participation, increase opportunities to be active in an environment where they are, promote and develop self-reliance , independence , cooperation, social skills acquisition and socialization processes, will help to know better the world and themselves. Young people will go beyond the boundaries of their comfort and rejoice in discovering various winter adventures.
