Mind the Nature
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Jul 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Environmental protection is one of the major concerns of today. Although many organizations deal with this issue, awareness of ordinary people is still not sufficiently affected. There is no other way to get people to think ecologically and environmentally, as to pay more and more attention to this topic. The vision of our project is to bring together 28 young people who will deal with environmental and ecological issues during one week. Our mission is to build a consciousness inside of them, which will suggest them in the future that the nature must be protected. The fact is that if will people understand that nature is not dependent on the human race, but the man is dependent on nature, situation can be improved. At least 10 of the participants will be from low income families, as this project will allow them to travel and meet foreign young people who they might otherwise due to their disadvantaged financial situation couldn't meet.In order to achieve the above objectives, it will be used as theoretical as well as practical teaching components. Within the theoretical part it will be explained to participants why it is important to protect nature and what impact has a negative attitude of human to this issue. We will use methods, which will include informal lectures, presentations and public discussions. Within the practical parts will participants see with their own eyes a contamination, respectively countryside devastated by natural disasters. Such an experience can have much stronger effect on the mentality of young people than repeated theoretical lectures. Because of this fact, participants will visit Štrbské Pleso during the week. This place was hit by the devastating storm in 2004. The storm caused so many problems that they last to the present. Similar experience will be possible to see in Žiarska valley, which is a place of a great avalanche from 2009. Throughout the week, participants will be additionally forced to watch and search for nature pollution caused by human, since the acquired images and photos will be used for the final video project. Video (together with the results of the project) will be subsequently extended internationally via the Internet, newspapers, television and radio. Participants will thus think after the project greener and more environmentally. By this we mean that they themselves do not pollute nature, and moreover, will try to influence their surroundings that it is doing so. The impact of the project will be due multiplier effect far greater and more extensive than the original number of participants.
