Mind Lab: Activities in schools and refugee camps
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

East & West Center for Human Resources Development (WE Center) is a non-profit organization based in Amman, working in the field of intercultural dialogue since 2008. WE Center's mission is to work for building institutional and individuals’ capacity and empower them to make positive changes in their societies and develop their social and political life based on the values of human respect, partnership and integration among individuals and society. The EVS volunteers will be involved in different working areas of the organization. Their main task will be to lead activities about basic science, creativity and critical thinking for children and youngsters in public schools, youth centres and most importantly in Palestinian refugee camps. There is a big lack of educational and recreational opportunities in the refugee camps and the volunteers’ presence and engagement there will help the children to learn new things and engage with people from abroad. The volunteers will also help to promote EVS and Erasmus+ program to youth in Jordan, establish new cooperation with other organization from Europe and Arab countries and write blog articles about his/her experience in Jordan. This project will hopefully maximize the positive impacts by accomplishing the promotion of the general values and ideas of a volunteering mobility project, such as active citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans and Jordanians. The EVS volunteers as well as the Jordanians coming in contact with them (volunteers, staff, neighbors, children in refugee camps…) will have the opportunity to learn about another culture, common values and cultural diversity.
