“Millennium: New Trends and Challenges in Human Rights Education for youth” is an international training course developed to fill the gap of information and knowledge of youth workers, leaders and activists, about human rights in a youth perspective. We want to transfer to the 30 participants from 10 different EU countries taking part in the TC, to be held in the dates 9-16 December 2016 in Cagliari, Italy, the concepts to make Human Rights a reality known by the young people they work with, passing it to their peers functioning as multipliers, teaching mutual respect and understanding. In December 2012 the new Compass manual for Human Rights Education was released by the Council of Europe and we will base the course on that, as well as on the strategies proposed by the European Charter for Education on Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education to propose an updated and reviewed view on HRE for young people. The training course will look at what we can do through our organizations for human right education and how we can work with young people in our wider communities to reduce violence , discrimination , racism, xenophobia and gender –based forms of non-respect.We will not only discuss the basis, history and principles of Human Rights, but we want to encourage participants to struggle for Human Rights in their community and be active in the field, conducting a life in a HR perspective, becoming agents of positive changes starting from their behaviours. This course will prepare and empower young people to plan and run youth activities on Human Rights Education especially at local level and at European level in the frame of the Erasmus +.The methodology used will be the one of non formal education, based on the Compass manuals, completed by theoretical inputs about the history and legal frameworks of Human Rights in Europe.
