FINISHED
The International Festival of arts for children and youth "We XXI Century" will be held for yet another year at the picturesque Bulgarian seacoast from the 21st to the 28th of August, 2016. Once again, we expect over 350 performers, representing over 10 nationalities. In the span of one week, the open air stages in the popular resorts Sunny Beach, Nessebar, and St. Vlas, will welcome children and youth aged between 5 and 25, who will perform in 5 genre categories (vocal soloists, dance groups, majorette ensembles, brass bands, and choirs). Besides the daily concerts, our programme is filled with lots of other exciting activities, such as interactive games, master classes, intercultural nights, music workshops, and amusement for the youngest participants. In the context of this year's festival, we plan to include 10 volunteers through the EVS programme, who will assist us with the event organization for a period of 2 weeks. They will get acquainted with the whole event cycle, from processing applications and preparing the schedule, to stage preparation and liaising with performers and group leaders. We will adapt the tasks according to each volunteer's specific needs and learning expectations. As an outcome of this exchange, we hope the volunteers will improve their teamwork skills and management of large-scale events. In the meantime, we want to provide them with an opportunity to have fun, enjoy the beautiful Bulgarian seaside, and build new international friendships during their service. The main goal of the project is to provide a space for the exchange of good practices and experience in the organization of cultural events, between countries in the Balkans. It also aims to promote trans-border cooperation through volunteering. In light of the growing anti-European and xenophobic sentiments in the region, we believe that such initiatives can serve as a form of prevention and a powerful tool for overcoming all forms of discrimination. The activities surrounding the project will contribute to the popularization and raising awareness of the benefits of the "Erasmus +" program among the local population. The partners we have chosen for this project have proven experience in the organization of cultural and artistic events, which will be beneficial for the exchange of good practices. Music educators from all the participating countries will have the chance to discuss the most recent trends and methods for education in the sphere of performing arts. We will strive to create a platform for international cooperation and dialogue, which will hopefully lead to the birth of new ideas and strategic partnerships over the years to come.
