CONTEXT AND BACKGROUNDAlto de los Molinos Secondary School in Albacete (Spain) has been bilingual since it was created in 2008 and nowadays nearly two thirds of our students are involved in bilingual studies. The European dimension of our school has been a priority from the beginning. We have been involved in two Comenius Projects and now we are coordinators of an Erasmus + KA219. We are also working on an Erasmus + KA101 aimed at bilingual teaching improvement.We have done research into what needs have to be addressed and the results of this survey shows that in a Secondary School where there are so many digital resources and 98.7% of the students have internet connection at home, not so many teaching departments use digital resources as their usual working tools, which is unthinkable in an environment where our learners are digital natives. The survey also shows that our students do not have a code of on-line etiquette and they do not even know how to get the most of the their digital tools.METHODOLOGYFor that reason, we are determined to address those weaknesses with the aim of making our school an example in the use of IT and digital tools. We want our institution to build those digital tools and methodology in our day-to-day lessons as well as in the teaching and learning process. For that purpose, we have strategically selected four teaching sectors so that all teaching areas are covered. Each sector will represent the teaching departments that are closer to them in content. These sectors are:- Technology, which will focus their training to use digital technology from a physical point of view (software & hardware), so that technical support to the school staff can be provided.- Humanities- Science- ArtsThe selected participants in each sector will adapt the content of their training courses to the teaching areas they represent, so that the project has a global impact and all teaching departments are included. The participants will organize dissemination activities in our school aimed at spreading the resources and methodology so that the project has a holistic impact.OBJECTIVESOur main objectives are:1. To foster and encourage teachers' professional development using IT as communication channels, data support purposes to store, process and transmit information digitally.2. To foster and encourage the take-up of efficient digital tools for teachers and students as well as the contact with the families.3. To know the use of IT and build its methodology in our day-to-day lessons as well as in the teaching and learning process 4. To develop a code of on-line etiquette and digital culture5. To foster the use of digital tools for management and evaluation of the teach-and-learn process.6. To optimize resources and maximize results which must be included in annual lesson plans and shared with the rest of the teachers.7. To share resources and inbuilt methodology with European schools through job shadowing activities.8. To improve participant's own language skills, foreign language communication and boost bilingualismPROFILE OF PARTICIPANTSThe participants in the activities will be selected from different departments among teachers with a minimum B2 level of English and according to our school training needs, as follows:- Teachers from the Department of Technology. Computer level: proficiencyTeachers from related teaching departments. Minimum computer level: user-basic for teaching areas of- SCIENCE- HUMANITIES- ARTSDESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIESWe have planned 4 structured courses in 4 different countries so that we can have a wider view according to our needs:-1 in Latvia - Department of Technology (5 days)-1 in Ireland - Sector of Science (2 weeks)-1 in Malta - Sector of Humanities (5 days)-1 in Germany - Sector of Arts (6 days)RESULTS AND IMPACT- We want our school to be an example in the use of IT and digital tools creating a digital environment where the whole educational community (parents included) can work using those tools.- Development of collaborative work and using projects- Incorporation and improvement of new teaching technologies- Global impact due to the interdepartmental working groups- English language skills improvementPOTENTIAL LONGER TERM BENEFITS- Our school will be visible abroad sharing our experience with other schools around Europe throughout Job Shadowing activities.- More motivating, realistic and modern up-to-date lessons, reflecting modern times and offering a wider and more global point of view because of the relationship with other European schools- Development of a code of on-line etiquette and digital culture- Creation of a network with teachers form different European Schools and organizations. Our students are likely to make the most of this network and most of them will keep the relationships with their peers for the rest of their lives.
