The goal of the project "Mentors Activate European Language Portfolio throughMultimedia" (ActivELP) is to stimulate practical use of the European Language Portfolio(ELP). The ELP was developed and piloted by the Language Policy Division of theCouncil of Europe. Many specific ELPs have been developed covering different types oflearners and different languages. The aim of this tool is to encourage plurilingualism,multilingualism, and to motivate and facilitate language learning.We believe that further effort is needed for the ELP to reach regular users. ActivELPproject proposes 2 channels: mentoring and multimedia. Multimedia tools will ensure theaccess to the ELP by groups and individual learners allowing practicing the ELP throughinteraction. Mentoring will enable us to reach teachers in different education sectors,and to pass on practical skills of using ELP through multimedia.The specific aims of ActivELP project are: 1) to develop a training program for languageteachers "ELP in Language Teaching through Multimedia" and mentoring guidelines forimplementation of this program; 2) to train a group of language teachers-mentors fromall EU countries; 3) to test the training program.The consortium involves partners who 1) have developed and worked with differenttypes of ELPs; 2) have strong experience in the use of ICT tools in language teachingand learning; 2) have experience in teacher mentoring 3) represent the target groups:different types of learners.The outputs of the project will be: 1) a training program for language teachers "ELP inLanguage Teaching through Multimedia", published in paper and electronic formats; 2)a trained group of language-teachers mentors representing all countries of Europe; 3)guidelines for mentoring ELP through multimedia; 4) 100 teachers of all educationsectors, trained to use the ELP in language teaching through multimedia. The mentorsand teachers involved in the training activities will come from all education sectors.
