All the existing partnerships will be developed further during this project (MAMEKAM 2003–2005, 2006–2008, 2008–2010, 2011–2013, 2012–2014 and 2013–2015 and also DEMOKAM 2003–2005, 2006–2008, 2008–2010, 2011–2013, 2012–2014 and 2013–2015). All the Vocational Colleges of the Federation of Education in Jokilaaksot will take part in this project.
During the on-the-job learning periods abroad students’ language skills and knowledge of foreign cultures will improve. The project will also improve the ability to work in international companies. The student has a possibility to widen his/her opinions about the needs on international labor market and at the same time the student can improve his/her communications skills in a foreign language and culture. According to the results of previous projects, students’ own personal and professional growth and development intensified during the on-the-job learning period abroad.
Students' 34 mobility periods are planned to be accomplished during autumn 2014 and spring 2015.
Students from different study fields can accomplish one or more vocational skills demonstrations during their on-the-job learning period abroad. The vocational skills demonstration can also be accomplished in English. Online-based assessment form is being used with these assessments of vocational skills demonstrations.
For students we have added Poland as a new country, because as a result of previous staff mobility projects collaboration with partners in Poland have been further developed and first students on-the-job learning periods are being planned for next semester.
For personnel the goals in this project are to develop their professional qualifications and to improve their communication skills and knowledge about the culture and traditions in the foreign country. In addition, one goal is to observe and to develop international on-the-job learning periods and vocational skills demonstrations together with the hosting organization and other partners. For staff three mobility periods for two weeks’ time are planned, one to be accomplished during autumn 2014 and two during the spring 2015.
Teacher, who takes part in 14 days of working life period abroad can improve his/hers multicultural teaching skills by working in multicultural environment in foreign culture. The experts who take part to this project will instruct the staff from collaborate organizations how to instruct students during their on-the-job learning periods and with students’ vocational skills demonstrations based on the good practices developed in previous projects. If possible, teachers and students will be abroad at the same time so that the teacher can instruct and support the student and collaborate organizations during the period and accept student’s vocational skills demonstration or part of the demonstration.
The project will improve the commitment in common quality standards (for example Europass, common formulas, European CV-model) and also the quality of these mobility projects. The project also supports teacher's changing role in the development process of vocational education.
Participants’ vocabulary improves during these mobility periods and, for example, teachers have better qualifications to teach some courses in foreign language afterwards. Teachers will get a certificate about participating on the working life period abroad and they can add the certificate about this mobility period on their own CV if they want to. This working life period can also be acknowledged as a part of working life experience diploma studies (25 credits).
In this project, the five shorter staff training abroad periods are planned for one-week courses to improve staff member’s professional skills and qualifications. These courses can be seminars on topics related to teachers professional field or common courses about teaching methods that will provide new good practices to be used in everyday teaching work. One criterion for the courses is that the results can be distributed in every vocational college where the study field is being taught.
Altogether 34 VET learners mobility periods and 8 VET staff mobility periods will be carried out in this project.
The Federation of Education in Jokilaaksot has gathered dozens of collaboration partners throughout the Europe during previous projects, which belong to this same certificate CE-FI-2009. The existing collaboration relations will be developed further and wider during this new project. And like previously, during this new project also new partners will be searched especially on those fields, from which fewer students and staff members have been abroad on the on-the-job learning periods.
