"The proposal aims at mapping the long-run process of integration of the European and world markets, from the early modern period to present, and at assessing its effects on the welfare and on institutions. To this aim it will collect a comprehensive data-base on prices, which will then be made available on-line to scholars. These data will be then used to estimate the gains from integration (or losses from disintegration). Last but not least, the project will consider some case-studies of political reactions to integration (e.g. after the Napoleonic wars) and of changes in institutions"
