In order to increase the coordination efforts the MANUFUTURE2013 conference is proposed with a special focus on expressing the ETP MANUFUTURE community’s view on the Horizon 2020 – the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (2014-2020). The event is planned for the second half of Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the EU (in autumn 2013) at the time when legislative acts on Horizon 2020 will have been adopted by the EU Parliament and Council already, thus the conference will serve as a forum of stakeholders to discuss the possibilities on how to better operationalize Horizon 2020 and respective national initiatives. The project’s specific objectives are as following:• First, to prepare a conference implementation plan, including a conference programme and a plan for the follow-up actions and outreach activities, by organizing the work of the Conference Organizing Committee: identifying and selecting stakeholders to be involved as keynote speakers, panel and round-table moderators, preparing a well-timed and structured conference programme and the list of outreach activities;• Second, to implement the conference plan achieving above average (70%) turnout of the confirmed attendees from the key stakeholder institutions (national agencies and the EU institutions, European industry associations and technology platforms, high-level expert groups and major research consortia) and preparing a Position Paper, reflecting the consensus reached at the conference;• Third, to run outreach and dissemination activities and follow-up events: a) organizing visits for press and conference participants to manufacturing sites, b) holding a competition for pupils and students in technical creativities and practical applications of modern engineering technologies, and c) distributing conference materials through social media and professional networks in order to gain publicity and achieve the impact. The objectives will be achieved by organizing during the mid-term of Lithuania’s Presidency of the EU (autumn 2013) the high-level policy conference “MANUFUTURE 2013: MANUFUTURE View on Horizon 2020”, which will address the needs of manufacturers in the field of research and development in industrial technologies and the synergy between the initiatives of the EC and the Member States within the framework of global challenges and regional capacities.
