Make It Work (MIW) is a trailateral youth exchange-project between Sweden, Italy and Slovakia. The relationship between the partner countries started in the EVS-project INSIGHT where the three countries, together with three additional countries, have decided to give 10 young persons a chance to come to Sweden as volunteers and learn about how a swedish municipality works with young unemployed youths. The main themes of MIW are youth unemployment and migration. The youth in this project will be given the possibility to exchange knowledge about the differences and similarities regarding unemployment, labor market and migration in their respective home countries. The themes are important and connected, during 2015 60 million persons hade to flee from war and persecution. Many of these persons are young and will have a hard time establish themselves on the labor market in their new country. By bringing together youths, politicians and public servants we want to create an environment where the youths can make their voices heard and where they are listened to. By also letting the youth spend time volunteering, for example visiting a home for unaccompanied minors, we believe they will get a better understanding of our similarities and also get a closer connection to the society. Our ambition is that the youth taking part in this project will have a new view of the labor market - the labor market does not have to be your home town but can in fact be Europe - we are European citizens afterall! By realizing the possibilities the youth will gain self esteem and get a new belife in themselves and in what they are able to do.MIW consists of three exchanges which in total means that over 90 persons, in the receiving and hosting countries, will be involved. Many of the participants will have fewer opportunities, for example financial and social difficulties. During the visits the youth pass-method will be explained, used, disussed and evaluated by the participants.
