Make Art, No Hate

Our main project beneficiaries are young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who are confronted with poor results at school, exclusion, discrimination, physical or emotional handicap. We promote non-discrimination and social inclusion as basic principles and respect for human rights that represent the way in which to ensure that attitudes underlying hate speech are not propagated. We want to encourage young people to express themselves and convey their messages effectively in the community. An effective way in which to dialogue with young people from different cultures and to exchange messages with great impact in the community is art. OBJECTIVES General Objectives • Promoting human rights • Increase the active participation of young people in society • Promoting non-formal education in creative and innovative • Facilitate cooperation in European cultural context SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES After participating in the project’s mobility all participants: • will know concepts such as online-public space; online identity and the influence it has on personality; Hate speech. • will develop tolerance, critical thinking, creativity and the sense of activist involvement in the community they belong • will know the opportunities offered to young people by Erasmus + program, the EU values, No Hate Speech campaign objectives and human rights. • be aware of the cultural diversity within the EU (due to reflection groups from which they extract learning) • be able to identify hate speech and to distinguish between it and freedom of expression. • Leaders will be able to plan, implement and evaluate non-formal education activities on the themes of the project or to adapt them to other topics, due to experiential learning. Number and profile of participants Participating in the project will be 5 participants and a leader from each partner country. Project participants were confronted with situations of online and offline discrimination; they want to express their identity and to be heard in the community to which they belong. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES AND METHODOLOGY In the first days of mobility, participants do team-building activities and are introduced into the main project themes such as identity and diversity, come in contact with the local community and local organizations, and recognize the importance of knowing human rights. We will use interactive, non-formal education methods like: Simulation, Treasure Hunt, Albatross Community, which would require participants to interact strongly with the community in Cluj and identify the issues that affect them. In the following days will conduct team activities, artistic interventions in public space that will put participants to freely express their individuality and creativity, they will learn the impact that an artistic message has against hate speech in a community, by practical activities and teamwork. The last two days are dedicated to organizing a participatory event in the public space that will engage Cluj community. TANGIBLE RESULTS • 10 posters on human rights issues that will continue to support the No Hate Speech Campaign • a website to stimulate the participants and other interested youth, to create the artistic digital materials on topics of interest • A participatory community event conducted in a public space in Cluj • Local events such as conferences, debates, workshops, roundtable INTANGIBLE RESULTS • 25 empowered youth capable to combat hate speech; motivated and informed about Erasmus + and the European Union, opportunities and Europeans • 9 youth workers who learned experientially • 5 european organizations working with youth from 5 different countries cooperating in the European space, exchanged best practices and concepts and came into contact with building a vision of international organization • extending best practices developed within No Hate Speech campaign. IMPACT For young participants in mobility is important the extraction of learning from the activities, learning about the types of learning as well as content such as EU, Erasmus +, human rights, hate speech;, changing of atitudes are important like tolerance, activation in the community and in the online environment; skills are developed based on experiential learning. Urbaniac strategy of using art as a mean to enable and empower young people in the community, covers a period of five years, beginning in 2015 and covers activities of digital art, urban art and creative recycling!
