Maintenance and Life Cycle Asset Management, the CornerstOnes for Sustainable DevelopmEnt (MainCODE)

The main objectives of the project are: a) The elaboration of a sustainable lifelong Training program by developing targeted training material, organizing a series of seminars and workshops and implementing innovative e-learning tools. All of the activities will focus on the following three main thematic areas: Asset Management & Maintenance Technologies, Health-Safety & Environment and Green Maintenance & Energy Saving. b) To increase workforce mobility and promote equal opportunities, by creating a Certification System for skilled technicians and developing a shared web-based database. c) To create innovative Maintenance systems for all stakeholders. The academic institutions will develop a state of the art e-maintenance tool for performing maintenance operations and offering on-the-job training and support. d) To establish a permanent link between the stakeholders in order to develop and implement the regional strategy on Maintenance. Expected Results: In order to achieve the main objective, during the two year period of MainCODE project, fifteen seminars will be organized to cover all basic areas on Life Cycle Asset Management & Maintenance area. From this intensive lifelong training program and through the certification procedure (developed during the project), at least 100 technicians and engineers are expected to certify their skills. This training program is also expected to increase the percentage of women involved in the maintenance sector, which currently is 5%. The achievement of that goal will be assessed by the percentage of women who become certified (expected to reach 15%). It is also expected to improve collaboration between the academic and the business sectors.
