The goal of Rovaniemen aikuislukio is to improve the effectiveness of its immigrant education and to network with other organizations involved in the same field. This is best achieved by getting to know both the practices and the colleagues of these experienced educational organizations. There are organizations which have been part of the educational system for immigrants for a longer time than we. They can be found in Western Europe. Useful practices acquired with teacher exchange and job shadowing will be put into use in the daily operation and strategy development of our school. Subjects of particular interest are: teaching a foreign language to immigrants (Finnish as a second language), language awareness when studying in a foreign language (studying other subjects in Finnish) as well as taking into consideration different cultures when teaching and integrating immigrants into society.
