LYCEE NADAR : UNE FENETRE SUR L'EUROPE
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The ERASMUS project + of Nadar School is part of the mobility of learners in vocational training. Its goal is to meet the strategic objectives defined at European training level by 2020 in these terms: - offer a period of training abroad to vocational high school students - develop the mobility of prospective students they will become - reduce the school dropout rate. The opportunity to acquire additional experience elsewhere in Europe, through an internship has become more than ever a necessity. In addition one of the priorities of the French Government is to provide youth with training suited for employment and the future, with the international mobility of students and specifically targeting the professional sectors. This project scheduled for 24 months (2015-2017) entitled " Nadar High School: a window on Europe" concerns students in “Terminal” level prepared since the “Second” level to European mobility. These young people often from disadvantaged backgrounds are aware of the added value that provides such an experience both personally and professionally. They have demonstrated their willingness to go abroad by their attendance to the courses their involvement in the various activities proposed the progress made in English or Spanish oral as well as the interest and curiosity brought to the host country. Since 2004 the Nadar High School sends young people from the tertiary sector (Management/Administration) and Trade - Sales (since 2010) to internship abroad and therefore makes them gain experience in this field. However the novelty of the project this year is the opening of the mobility onto the Industrial Sector with the Industrial Equipment Maintenance Section). Experimentally a few students in this section are part of the project prepared for this by teaching them professional English (through recently certified DNL), and by their language teacher. Participants are therefore dispatched as follows: 1 ° November 2015: -Malta: 25 students (Management/Administration - Trade - Sales - Industrial Equipment Maintenance). -Spain: 15 students (Trade - Sales Management/Administration). 2 ° November 2016: -Malta: 30 students (Management/Administration - Trade - Sales - Industrial Equipment Maintenance). -Spain: 15 students (Trade - Sales Management/Administration). The five weeks stay of the students in their host country will take place in two stages: 1 ° the first week, accompanied by their teachers students will be introduced to the country the city the culture the host family as well as the company that will host them for four weeks. It is a cultural and linguistic immersion (with language instruction to deepen their knowledge). The teachers will then have a training and accompaniment role of young people towards more autonomy. 2 ° the next four weeks students will perform their internship, part of their training. They will then be supervised by tutors, in constant relation with teachers in France. This project is prepared by a committed team composed of involved teachers and members of the management of the High School as soon as the “second” level. Pedagogically pupils and their families are aware of the European High School Sections and the benefits they bring. Some courses are conducted jointly by two teachers (language and DNL) vocational education in a foreign language hence takes all its dimension. Progressions prepared on the three years of training enable students to improve and better prepare their stay abroad during the graduating class. Administratively, the schedules of classes and teachers are made so as to be able to work transversally in grouping certain classes or facilitating the Exchange. The importance of work experience in a foreign country is no longer to be proved. Such a project helps students to live a first immersion in a European country to discover another culture another expertise and know how to be professional. The impact for students is personal enrichment a better language proficiency a self-confidence increase and the desire to pursue studies with greater determination. On the long run this project should allow the Nadar High School to confirm a European radiation follow up our current European sections and request the opening of an English European Section in the Industrial Sector.
