Lublin Wielokulturowy
Start date: Oct 1, 2016, End date: Jan 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

On 2017 falls the 700th anniversary of the city of Lublin’s founding. Therefore, we want to prepare a movie, demonstrating today’s multiculturalism of the city. Lublin creates a unique atmosphere where every newcomer feels good, so on the streets you can hear many languages, and see people of different confessions. The aim of the project is to promote intercultural, interreligious and international dialogues. Its implementation will help to understand how important for coexistence in a common space are the understanding of the necessity of dialogue, as well as respect and understanding of its promoted values.Volunteers will be 3 citizens of Eastern European country, namely Ukraine, actively participating in the life of local communities, creatively realizing their ideas by presenting their culture, and showing that diversity is a value in itself, and the dialogue and common action can positively enhance the effect of such actions. Awareness of cultural diversity of a common urban space, participation in the life of a multi-ethnic Europe are the basis for global awareness, so volunteering, through work and commitment, helps a young person to contribute to the shaping of consciousness and mentality, above all, in their own communities and next at the level of national, continental and global. Acting in an international environment, creating and implementing specific initiatives, volunteer in practice, acquire intercultural competences. The project in its implementation will contribute to the promotion of intercultural dialogue (both within the city and beyond), mutual respect and tolerance, which thrive best when we get to know each other. The target audiences of the project “Multicultural Lublin” are young people who want to acquire new skills and knowledge, develop their talents and abilities, but most of all learn how to avail them and use in professional and private life, to realize their own ideas and plans. First of all, it is aimed at promoting multiculturalism of our city and the commitment of young people to this process. Taking advantage of their potential, energy and ideas, young people will be able to create and implement new, valuable cultural initiatives and projects, while trying to learn by doing.
