The project will take place in Liepaja, the third biggest city in Latvia with 75 000 inhabitants, situated on the coast of the Baltic sea, between the sea and Liepaja lake in the West of the country. Liepaja is known as a city of music, many classical and modern music festivals take place here during spring and summer. In the period of school time the city is full of students from Liepaja University and Technical University of Riga Liepaja branch.
The society LATVIJAS PIRMĀS PALĪDZĪBAS VIENĪBA (LATVIAN FIRST AID UNIT) works in three different directions:
a) Charity room - donation acceptance and provision to assistance;
b) First-aid skills training for all stakeholders, including children and young people in schools and kindergartens;
c) Free, meaningful leisure for children in the Interest center “Pēcskola”, which aims to encourage children and young people, particularly street children, opportunities for meaningful and useful leisure time spendig , to develop and improve their own interests. Every child or young person can participate in the free interest education, practical work or creative activities.
Our accumulated experience working with young people was based on, to gain experience in international cooperation, that is, the European voluntary service programmes organization. In September of 2013 we got approval from the State Agency "International Youth program agency", about the fact that we have assigned a host and sending organisation status.
The project "Love to Help" aims at promote the European voluntary service, for Paulina Roth - 18 year old young women from German city of Würzburg in personal growth, acting in NGO LATVIJAS PIRMĀS PALĪDZĪBAS VIENĪBA (LATVIAN FIRST AID UNIT) and learning the skills to teach and provide first aid, as well as work with different aged children, including from social risk families.
Participation of young people is the basis in the organisation work. The project „Love to Help” will last 11 months.
Very often activity, event, campaign is youth recommended , organized or supported by the volunteer work. Realize European voluntary service programme, young woman who will be involved in meetings of young people, together will build a month plan of work as well as planned and organized activities.
At the beginning of the project it is intended that a volunteer gradually involved in the organization's activities, will learn the necessary skills, but in the final months, Paulina will have the opportunity to organize competitions and also manage her events and activities, making it possible to not only participate, but also to implement their ideas and reach a new personal growth.
Program activities will be held 5 days a week, scheduling time for exercise programs, both Latvian language learning and communication with the local community youth and children. Interest center "Pēcskola" activities are aimed to support the social exclusion risk target groups, the project will beable Paulina to identify their needs and the ways that Latvia and we as an organization promoting their growth.
The project will use a variety of non-formal education techniques-learn by doing, conversations, presentations, self-assessment, etc. In the project's, as a result, Paulina will have learned skills to live independently, without parents, will have gained an idea of Latvia, Liepaja, in our household, the culture. Paulina will be met with a possible of her profession, gain experience in working with children, including from social risk families, learn to give and to teach first aid according to the guidelines in Latvia, common will have organised first aid competitions.
