“Living together, learning together” expects to be the fifth edition of the European Voluntary Service (EVS) developed in the city of Elche, inside the neighborhood of Carrus, from 2010-2011 by the FEACV. Carrús, traditionally a working class neighborhood, has developed at the same time inmigration and industrial development in recent years. Now, It´s considered a preferred neighborhood social attention as one of the areas with the highest percentage of immigrants , cultural diversity and ethnic in the city. Therefore, the main objective is to reinforce the intercultural dimension of young people of foreign origin and the local community, through cultural and recreational activities in the community. As a specific purpose , it is proposed to empower young people for active citizenship, participating in the Youth in Action Programme locally. The estimated project duration is twelve months (one of preparation, ten of voluntary work and one for assessment). Partner organizations are from Germany and France, to ensure intercultural exchange. The methodology is based on the principles of non - formal education, through activities and events aimed principally to youth and children at risk of social exclusion. The activities are varied and include different activities of leisure time , such as music workshops and percussion, courses emerged from young initiative , and a varied program of courses and youth initiatives .
