As a cultural center located in the part of capital city of Czech Republic (Prague 5) we have the capacity to share our experiences, activities, methods, contacts and host participant from the European Voluntary Service. The main objective of the "Life of Cultural Cenetr" is to allow the volunteer to see the background of a cultural center in the suburbs of Prague. KD Mlejn is a cultural organization, whose history dates back to 1988. It offers a wide range of activities, including theater performances, concerts, folklore courses and leisuretime activities. Lately Mlejn supports the new wave of contemporary circus in the Czech Republic. The volunteer was chosen from candidates by KD team. The main emphasis was placed on motivation, interest in culture, leisuretime and informal education. During the service volunteer will find out how is the cultural center from the backstage. What is necessary for its operation and smooth work, how to live in KD in Prague. Volunteer will have the opportunity to try out a variety of tasks associated with its work. Our volunteer will get the opportunity to try out all the activities from theater technicks, lighting design, audio mastering, graphic design, organizating performances, concerts and festivals to PR. The main tasks of the volunteers is active work as an assistant teacher in child circus courses, with teachers from different parts of Europe and the world. Volunteer will get the opportunity to expand her social and language skills, teaching skills and experience in working with children and youth. Participants in the courses, which volunteer will participate also, are from different ethnic and social backgrounds. By working in the cultural center will be almost daily in the contact with the local community and the general public. She will be able to participate in various activities in different working groups, under the supervision of permanent staff. Her work in KD Mlejn will have a positive impact not only on her work experience, social and language skills, cultural awareness and insights, but will also affect workers and teachers of KD Mlejn, participants of children's courses and adult lessons, so as visitors of the cultural center . This project is prepared for one volunteer for ten months. During this time we will organize with volunteer series of debates on surrounding schools. This can enable young people to learn more about the events and programs supported by the European Union. We will also share experiences and outcomes of voluntary service in KD on our website, social networking sites (whether personal or organization ones) and thus expand awareness of the possibilities of active self-development and non-formal education at the national, European and maybe even the world range.
