FINISHED
Background:
Following the present economic situation, youth all around Europe face a serious problem, unemployment, whose rates grow with every statistical report issued and are becoming alarming among the people below 25 years old. Looking at a deeper level, the situation is worse in the rural areas from developing countries like Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland and Turkey. In this case, youth face serious social difficulties due to economic and social background, which obviously limits their opportunities for personal development and inclusion in the society. We are hereby witnessing a massive migration of young people from rural to urban areas, looking for employment opportunities.
We are aware that the rural areas have a high potential for development, and youth must play an important role in taking entrepreneurial initiatives in order to contribute to personal development, inclusion in the society and improve the condition regarding financial issues. Young people from partners' communities need non-formal opportunities for development of creativity outside the normal course of school, in order to tackle the difficult economic conditions.
Main Objectives:
• Improve entrepreneurial and initiative skills for 38 young people (of which 20 coming from rural areas), with ages between 18-25, by experiencing practical workshops and activities regarding woodcrafts, in a rural area location with traditions in this area and by using a multicultural environment.
• Promote social inclusion of 20 young people with fewer opportunities from rural areas, in order to facilitate the learning process for this disadvantaged category and to respond to the serious needs regarding personal development and tackling the phenomenon of unemployment.
• Create a cooperation space between YNGOs, young people and local authorities, by organizing one outdoor event in the center of the village, in order to emphasize the need of quality support from the authorities towards the youth work and their specific activities.
• Raise the capacity of partner NGOs to tackle the phenomenon of unemployment by using and transferring the know-how and good practices achieved during the youth exchange to their local situations.
Participants profile:
• The project includes 38 participants from Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Romania, aged between 18-25
• 20 participants are coming from rural areas and have economic and social difficulties
• Participants face serious problems regarding personal development and access in the work field
Activities and methodology:
The activities and methods used in the project follow the natural line of youth involvement in the activities and the accumulation of competences, as well as making an impact in the local community:
• Integrative methods (name games, energizers, team-building, story board)
• Explorative methods (explore local community, Village rally, Photo Voice)
• Creative methods (Creative workshops, team work)
• Impact making (Art Fare, Flash Mob, Meeting with authorities)
Results and impact:
• 38 young people from 5 European countries accumulate competences regarding entrepreneurship, which can further be used for personal development
• 100 young people from Polovragi will get contact with non-formal education methods during the outdoor activities implemented
• All the material outputs of the project will be donated to institutionalized children during a event organized in Targu Jiu after the end of the exchange
• 5 Group leaders and other participants will act as multipliers in their local community for the entrepreneurial model applied during the youth exchange, thus contributing to the fight against unemployment
• Partner NGOs will improve their capabilities of fighting against unemployment, by being part of a network created with the sole purpose of sharing good practices and know-how in this area
