Let's learn differently
Start date: Oct 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

As we are going to finalize the new building of the Human Resource Centre, where we will develop optional courses of foreign language, literature and music clubs, handmade workshops as well as training courses for the teachers, the school Matei Basarab proposes this project with the scope to enhance the basis abilities of the teachers and the working methods. At the same time, a large number of students with excellent results but unable to put into practice the accumulated information make us to draw the conclusion that the self-esteem is very low, the assertion of their capabilities and talents being only a few highlighted. Being based on the will to learn new, innovative and participative methods that can be correlated with the formal education, this project gathers 2 gymnasium schools, 1 high school and 2 NGOs, ensuring in this way the cross-sectoral dimension. As we have experienced partners, the project gains value by the mutual transfer of expertise. As the initiator and coordinator of the project, Romania is the host of the transnational meetings, each partner having a well defined role on the project agenda. The first meeting clearly establishes the tasks and role of each partner, the project budget for the activities and the agenda. As the training courses for the teachers is going to be organized in Spain, based on the continuous bias and in accordance with the financial responsible, we define the budget for this activity. The Spanish NGO has been selected on solid grounds regarding its experience in the non-formal education and its capacity to organize training courses. A new activity will take place in Romania, a blended mobility, where the students and the teachers will interact in different activities, either extra-curricular or regarding teaching approaches. The teachers will also have the opportunity to put into practice what they learned during the course in Spain, to debate on how they applied in their institution and the results they obtained. The students will be involved in extra-curricular and learning activities and we will focus on their will to participate, to socialize, to improve their practical abilities. We will carry out the second transnational meeting with the purpose of evaluating what it was done and to draft the agenda for the second year of the project. We will analyze the transnational but also the local activities. We will discuss on the materials that will gathered for producing the Intellectual Outputs. Each participant, based on the local developed activities will provide to the NGOs the drafted materials related to the use of non-formal methods in teaching the socio-human and exact sciences. The NGOs together with one teacher from each school will deal with this Intellectual Outputs. The Crete school which is an experimental institution and has common projects on teaching methods with the universities in the region will become the host of the teachers' common learning event. For 7 days, the teachers and the youth workers will teach together, will develop extra-curricular activities and will elaborate materials for the Intellectual Outputs. The last transnational meeting will be organized with the scope to evaluate the project, to prepare the Multiplier Event and the results dissemination activities and will take place in Romania. The Multiplier Event translates into an international conference, having as guests, both teachers involved in projects and other organizations interested in non-formal education. During the second year of the project, each institution will disseminate the accumulated information, at local and regional level. Having a duration of 24 months, this project does not intend to resolve the issues of the education but proposes that the partner institutions and especially Romania as the Coordinator, to succeed in developing among students/youth the capacity to communicate, to work in team, to reduce the verbal violence caused by the exam stress, to exhibit the artistic talents; among teachers to increase the capacity to manage non-formal activities connected with the theoretical side, the ambition to use participative methods at the classes; among schools to raise the capacity to manage other European or national projects , to organize optional courses and extra-curricular activities by the Human Resources Centre, to improve the school offer; and among parents to enhance the interest for a complex students development and for the involvement in extra-curricular activities.
