The project will take place in Kalmar and on Öland on the south east coast of Sweden. The dates are 11-18th of August 2014. Young people from 3 countries will meet to integrate by activities surrounding a big international sports event. The exchange will last for 8 days and include 20 participants from two EU countries and one non EU country (10 participants from Sweden, 6 from Croatia and 4 from Turkey). The activities will revolve around the sports event Iron Man Kalmar. The main purpose of the exchange is to structure dialogue and to support interaction and integration between the local group Young Leaders Öland/Kalmar and the visiting group. Both groups include young people with fewer opportunities. This integration, diaouge and interaction will be done by getting the groups to learn by doing connected to sport. The common interest between the three groups will be sport, leadership, values and events. The most important topic for this exchange is to lift and understand the differences in practicing sports in the three countries. One of the goals is to create a future exchange between the groups and to strengthen the participants knowledge in leadership, volunteering and sport events importance for the development of a city. The participants will also exchange knowledge and experience concerning sports leadership and its areas such as healthy diet, mental coaching, tolerance, to fight stereotypes, and to accept differences. By solving tasks and activities together the young people will open up to each other, they will have an increased understanding, become less shy and over come language barriers. The activities will revolve around the event Iron Man, a big international sports event. During the day there will be activities around the event, during evenings there will be experience swaps, multicultural workshops, national evenings and exchanges around sports issues. We will arrange sport activities with local youth and other events as well as visit to local sights such as Kalmar Castle the castle ruin of Borgholm and World Heritage UNESCO sight South Öland. We wil only use non-formal education methods in the exchange and all participants who wish to will get a Youthpass.
