This proposal, "Let's do it!" is a European Volunteer Service of 12 months lenght that will involve 2 Spanish volunteers to develop their service in Jordan.
This initiative will strenght interculturalism, interreligious dialogue, learning of other languages and strenghening of strategic alliances between countries of Middle East and Europe, being all of them priorities in the framework of Erasmus+.
The current high level of unemployment in Europe affects specially youth that has got good academic level but short experience and social and communicational skills. EVS program promotes the development of those skills and this specific project in Jordan will allow volunteers to awake their sensibility for disadvantaged population (refugee camps). This will permit them to interact with neigbor cultures, as the ones settled in the Mediterranean Sea.
Volunteers will develop diverse activities as: English workshops for kids and youth in the Palestinian Refugee Camps; support to social projects and proposals of the hosting organisation; dissemination activities regarding the Erasmus+ program and volunteering among youth in Jordan; development of personal entrepreneurship initiatives to promote creativity and a personal link of volunteers within the project and the context of intervention; contribution within testimony and articles to a divulgative blog regarding the intercultural experience of the EVS. Furthermore, volunteers will participate in Arabic language lessons and will participate in integration activities within local community.
The methodology that will be applied will be non-formal education, both in the learning processes of volunteers and also into the activities that they will develop within youth and kids in the local communities; always with the perspective of dynamism, creativity, personal motivation and giving the chance to volunteers to develop their own personal skills.
This volunteer service will promote that our volunteers acquire responsability in the leadership of activities and projects; acquire values of Solidarity, Tolerance, promotion of social cohesion and facilitate throw the exchange of experiences an INTERCULTURAL UNDERSTANDING that will break steteotypes and prejudices that both cultures, which are interacting, can have currently about each other.
The impact will come also into the local context for the contribution and support that volunteers will bring, by the cultural and educational enrichment of youth in local communities and for the promotion of social integration within other cultures. On the other side, both sending and hosting organisations will also learn from this experiece by developing intercultural networks and the opportunity to develop new common actions and process of collective construction.
