PROJECT
FINISHED
The project “Let’s discover Ireland” is written for students at Primary School in Chrząchów. The main aim of the project is focused on Irish culture, history, traditions and modern life. The project involves one mobility for a course in Cork/Ireland.
The course's aims are:
-to gain a huge variety of new teaching ideas & motivating materials ready to use in the classroom.
-to keep abreast of changes in Irish Life and Society and the Educational System and of new developments in the English Language
- to improve teachers' language skills
-to exchange ideas and develop links with teachers from primary schools in different European countries.
The programme is completely suitable for our needs as the culture project will fulfill the expectations of the teachers, students, parents and local community have about our school. The school has obtained small experience in international cooperation. We did a project called “Enjoy my origin” with AIESEC and visited students from Iran and Malesia. Our students become more and more open to the world but still they are not motivated enough to learn about it.
The project is planned for the school year 2014/2015 and its aims are:
- to enhance European value of education
- to improve the pupils' key competence - effective communicating in a foreign language
- to improve school's educational offer and its prestige
- to involve more teachers from a local community
The activities have been planned carefully with the cooperation of other teachers and even schools. Some examples are:
the Irish Week ( history, music, literature, food, celebrations etc.); St. Patrick’s Day; a competition about Ireland, an art exhibition; and many actions promoting mobilities and Erasmus+ programme. The activities are to meet learners' styles and to use both their language and non-language skills to motivate them and boost their self confidence.
The results, outcomes and long-term effects will be the following:
- increasing personal and professional competences through getting new skills, ideas and improving the level of language skills
- improving teachers' status in local community
- acquiring the knowledge about applying and financing issues in Erasmus Plus programme
- developing links between European teachers in order to establish a partnership
- increasing students' motivation
- gaining some attractive ways to provide students with new methods and ideas
- developing cultural awareness and also national identity
- increasing tolerance and respect to other people's cultures
- initiating actions to introduce innovations into the local community
