The project's name is “Let's break the ice with tradition” it takes place in Estonia in Maidla on the 10th of August until 19th of August 2016. There are two countries that are taking part of it- Estonia and Hungary. From both of the countries there are 10 youngsters(in the age 15-23) and 1 group leader.The project focuses on each partner's cultural heritage, their differences and similarities. It draws attention to the fact that cultural heritage and old traditions are disappearing and it's important to cherish, appreciate and maintain it.The project ’’Let’s break the ice with traditions!“ focuses on raising awareness of the importance of cultural heritage amongst young people, it sightings and the importance of the evaluation. We hope that through the sharing of the cultural heritage the youngsters who have come together from different countries can overcome the prejudices caused by increased diversity of cultures, people of other nationalities, as well as fears about potential public speaking, communication and contact with culture and the people in front of strangers.Cultural heritage is not particularly popular among young people and this is why the above-mentioned project aims popularization of heritage to understand better both their culture and roots, origins but also the culture and heritage of the countries participating in the project.Youth Exchange will address the above-mentioned countries, dance, song, story, place, craft and game heritage, the countries are examined form different perspectives, to understand the culture and traditions of the country better.Youth Exchange activities are aimed at developing their skills in communication, self-expression, teamwork and foreign language skills and to demonstrate that the tradition is not dry and boring, but interesting. Each country will bring a little piece of their culture, heritage to Estonia and share and introduce it to others.Throughout the lessons learned are put together into one big workshop, which will be passed on to the guests of Viru Folk and to the local community and after the two workshops completion the participants will be asked to fill in a feedback questionnaire to find out whether they learned new knowledge to the completion of workshops and whether any prejudices of these cultures was refuted.One of the project goals is that the projects participants are motivated to organize a youth exchange in their home countries and also be inspired by the continuation of the events of cultural heritage and international youth projects.
