Our school "CFA-MFR Saint Gilles Croix de Vie", part of "CFA des MFR of Vendée", is located in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, in a rural area on the atlantic coast. We recieve young and adult students cho signed a contract either for apprentice ship or professionalisation specifically in building construction or painting, in plastic working and in outdoor hotel. We rhope to sensibilise our apprentices to European Citizenship and give them acces to a professional and cultural opening as well as a job experience in the European Community. That European mobility is offered to apprentices aged from 16 to 22 and getting prepared to an A-level dipoma. We choose those apprentices because they all have a 2 years training on-the-job previously. From then on they have the necessary maturing to go and stay abroad and adapt with a new team. The apprentices will go abroad by teams of two for a two-weeks trainning period abroad. European Mobility takes place visually in November - December or in April -May, depending on our foreign partners. A European job experience gives the opportunity to young people to open to a new professionnal techniques.Such a "traineeship" means a joint effort from apprentices, their supervisors in the company, the educational team a well as intermediary organisations and our partners in the foreign companies. We hope that mobility experience awakes their curiosity to discover a country, a culture, a language... and that they will analyse and compare technical and working methods in different companies. The success of such a project depends on the trip preparation aheard. This is why we wish to allow the inovolved and voluntary staff members to go and meet European partners, to develop our actions and to extend our networks. Those meeting are mements when anyone can appreciate or adjust to each other's ways. The financial support of the program allows apprentices whatever their social origins, their age or sex to benefit from socioprofessional mobility. The ERASMUS + program is the structure that allows the opportunity to apprentices to learn about other cultures, to rise to open-mindedness and to European citizenship. Those stays abroad allows us to create a dynamic spirit in our school involving the pupils who lived such experinces abroad and make them share their experience with other apprentices their families, the staff and local companies. That kind of project allows our structure to communicateabout our educational method based on professional experience and so add value to our formations that may suffer from a lack of attractivity. On medium and long term we wish to change a sometime false image of our rural structure and to attrack a wider and more diversified public.
