PROJECT
FINISHED
IES Pérez Galdós is a State school which comprises Secondary Education, Higher Education and VET courses. Our project is based mainly on two aspects: staff training and job shadowing. The enthusiastic teachers that will be participating in the project are mainly mwmbers of our management team, foreign language teachers and CLIL /Bachibac teachers of other subjects rather than English or French, or teachers who need to improve their linguistic competence to become teachers in a bilingual project in the future..The main objectives of the project are to avoid school leaving and combating failure in education, to handle problems teaching in a variety of different situations and work in an ever changing climate in which the needs of the pupils have to come first, to enhance social inclusion and equal opportunities, to gain knowledge of the different approaches on the teaching of Foreign Language methodology, to improve teachers' foreign language skills, and to get to know the new advances in Education in Europe in order to compare them with our own system . In order to achieve all these expectations we intend to attend lessons at a foreign school and have debates, do observation and workshops as part of our job shadowing. Regarding staff training, we have combined attendance to short length courses (7 or 14 days) focusing on either methodological or linguistic approaches. As a follow-up to the mobilities teachers will also do workshops, lectures, peer classroom observation, evaluation and assessment questionnaires, and we will invite other teachers of our Community to share our experiences. We expect this project to help teachers broaden students minds and see Europe as a future opportunity, to make both teachers and students aware of the necessity of learning foreign languages for their own benefit, and to establish bonds with other European teachers for future cooperation. At the end of the project the teachers will consider which aspects of the experience will be the most relevant to their teaching situations and will be asked to keep a record of how they have been able to use the ideas gained on the experience in their own classrooms. They will be encouraged to share their experiences with the fellow participants by email and with their colleagues at school through talks, seminars, etc. In the long term all these experiences will benefit the centre, the teachers and above all the students.
