FINISHED
The EVS hosting organisations Loackerhuus and Sunnahof in Vorarlberg/Austria would like to host five volunteers from Spain (one nationality Lithuania) and France. Agnés from Spain will work in the project Loackerhuus and the other four will work in the project Sunnahof for 12 months (1/9/2015 - 31/8/2016). In both organisations they will help people with light intellectual disabilities and behaviour problems.
All five volunteers are very interested in their projects and they are very happy that they were selected and look forward to getting the chance for an interesting EVS experience in Austria.
Agnés will participate in the project Loackerhuus and will finish this year her school. After that she is afraid that she doesn’t find a job because of the economic situation in her country. So she would like to use EVS to get some impression in a working field where she is very interested to work also in the future. She is really motivated for this project also because she has a lot of ideas and she would like to bring in her skills!
Alejandra is doing at the moment an internship for a month. She has problems with finding a job and tries with the internship to get some experience in some work. She really looks forward to the chance that she can make EVS. With that she hopes that she has more chances to find a job in a field where she is interested. After this internship she hopes to find another one so that she has not to be unemployed till her EVS begins. Alejandra will work in Sunnahof.
Charline is at the moment busy with her study. She would like to finish her study this summer so that she has then the chance to do EVS. She is really interested in working in Sunnahof and that she has there the chance to think one year more about what she would like to do and which why she would like to follow. She has already a lot of ideas what she would like to do in her project.
Ingrida has moved with her parents from Lithuania to Spain and will finish her study this year. Also of the fact that she would like to increase her job chances she would like to do EVS so that she can learn and get more skills and experiences. She is motivated to come to Austria also because she is very interested in learning a new language!
Nuria will finish soon her school but has now already problems to find a job. She will be soon unemployed so she hopes that she will get the chance to do EVS. She is interested to work with handicapped people and she also wants to learn German. She looks forward to get the possibility with EVS otherwise she has at the moment no other possibility or perspectives.
Agnés will have the chance to work in different areas in the Loackerhuus. These areas are gastronomy, creative group, kitchen, café and housing facilities. There she can contribute her own ideas and skills.
The other four volunteers will work in the different areas in Sunnahof: farming, carpentry, gardening or gastronomy. They have one work area each but will also have the chance to get to know the other areas and working fields.
The volunteers will also be able to make their own projects, contribute their own talents. It is also possible for the volunteers to attend trainings and workshops regarding disability, where they can refine their skills in social work.
Through the EVS project with Loackerhuus and Sunnahof the volunteers will learn a lot about work with people with light intellectual disabilities and behaviour problems. They will learn how to work along with people with disabilities and how to increase their skills and promote their independence. Furthermore the volunteers can gain access to the work as a farmer, carpenter, and gardener or in gastronomy, to work in an art studio or some other creative tasks if they are interested.
The hosting organisations also benefit through the stay of the volunteers. The volunteers contribute their own ideas, culture and give the organisations the chance to explore new ways of working. So there should be a win-win-situation for the organisations and the volunteers.
The long term benefit should/could be to reach as many people as possible but especially young people, to waken their interest for going abroad, making new experience and to use the chance with the EU programme ERASMUS+, especially "Youth in Action".
