LEAVE A SIGN - Exploring Cultural Diversity and Breaking Communication Barriers between Hearing and Deaf Youth through Art and Creative Expression

The aim of the project is to gather young people from Romania and Italy, deaf & hearing, in an intercultural learning exchange in order to facilitate social integration, intercultural attitude and the sense of belonging to the same European community, increase creativeness and improve personal and cultural experiences.The Erasmus+ program brings a huge opportunity for the 2 partners to create such stimulating context for deaf & hearing students and help them test differences and similarities, diversity of culture and traditions, explore Sign Language and improve English. The project intends to break language barriers between the deaf and hearing people through artistic expression and to foster cultural sharing and experiment different tools of communication.Leave a sign promotes equity, inclusion and solidarity by creating an opportunity for 24 deaf & hearing students to participate in a 7 day mobility and experiment cultural diversity, particularities of having and not having disability as well as particularities of Romanian and Italian Sign Languages (SL). Participants will be challenged to explore differences in behaviors, traditions, cultures and norms within the Deaf community and the hearing one. Leave a sign improves knowledge, key competences, personal and social skills of deaf and hearing youths through intercultural activities, SL communication & using art as a tool to express ideas, thoughts and feelings.Leave a sign brings teenagers in a non-formal environment to join in both organizing & participating in creative art workshops, teambuildings, ice-breakers, final flashmob, as flexible learning pathways are encouraged to strenghten their soft skills and key competences.
