Learning Organisations-key to Volunteer Empowermen
Start date: Dec 1, 2012,

The seminar “Learning Organisations – the key to Volunteer Empowerment (LOVE)” will bring together youth workers from the EFIL/AFS network in order to improve innovative learning approaches in exchange organisations, for better support and empowerment of their volunteers. The event will take place in Slovakia and will involve 20 participants and 5 facilitators/support staff from 16 European countries. EFIL, as the applicant organisation, will co-ordinate the partnership, however the hosting role will be played by its Member Organisation, AFS Slovakia, and each promoter will co-shape the project at different stages.During the 4-day programme participants will share existing good practice and explore areas of improvement for their volunteer networks, inspired by additional input received in the seminar. Among the tools supporting innovation and bottom-up initiative in learning, the use of modern media and communication tools will be explored. At the same time, participants will reflect on volunteering and active participation as such, including the place and role of young people in European society. Through interactive participatory methods and peer learning, the competence existing among participants and their organisations will be explored. As key multipliers, participants will pass knowledge onto volunteers in their countries who will take further actions for more creative approaches in non-formal education. The outcomes of the project will thus benefit a great number of young Europeans involved directly and indirectly in exchange organisations.
