Learning in Motion - Outdoor Education for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities or Mental Illness
Start date: Oct 1, 2004,
The Learning in Motion (LIM) project aimed to explore the use of the outdoors as a stimulus for learning for adults with intellectual disabilities and/or with a history of mental illness. In addition to the obvious physical-health benefits, outdoor learning aimed at increasing the intellectual capacity of participants through developing basic skills in reading, writing and numerical understanding. Project activities centred round 3 development areas namely the adult learner, the learning process and the outdoor learning space. With inclusion and accessibility as common goals, partners resulted in increasing the capacity of adult learning practitioners in delivering outdoor learning.
