Sustainable development necessitates societal modernisation and may only be realised via the active participation of competent citizens. The 'sustainability challenge' requires competences from their citizens which will markedly differ from the competences citizens needed about three decades ago. The introduction of issues of sustainable development in the curriculum into all educational programmes at all levels is therefore strongly recommended by several international organisations. Education for sustainable development (ESD) aims at facilitating the development of competencies to contribute to a more sustainable future. An educator who consciously wants to deal with sustainability issues, needs specific knowledge, skills and competences. Also new educational teaching and learning methods may facilitate ESD and in this way they can be used as a lever for educational innovations. This is, amongst others, the major objective of the project, shaping competences, to introduce new educational methods and to stimulate new types of collaboration and the development in the first step of so called dynamic qualities of educators. Because only comprehensivelly developed personality of educator in the context of the requirements of ESD can develop complex dynamic qualities of learners. The project is focused on developing knowledge, skills and competences in the field of environmental sustainability in the context of education for sustainable development. The project activities will support to increase an access of our staff, participants, participating organisations and relevant stakeholder to education in the field of the new and modern teaching methods and tools (including for people with special needs) for the examples of good European practice. In this context the project activities (by interactive seminars, workshops and training, experimental and practical education, learning by doing, open door methodology, etc.) improve staff competences (learning to know: new knowledge, systemic thinking, thinking in the context, etc.; learning to do: create opportunities for sharing ideas and experiences from different disciplines/places/cultures/generations; learning to be: proactive, creative, to be able implement new educational techniques, motivated to make a positive contribution to other people and their social and natural environment, engages with learners in ways that build positive relationships ; learning to be able: facilitation, self-assessment, critical assessment, conflict solution, generation of new ideas and benefits, empathy, to motivate learners to knowledge, activate and develop their skills, key competences; to create a favourable social, emotional and working environment, manage the learning process, work in different and international groups. The project objectives are also focused on improving the methods and the tools to ensure the quality of education (to create, monitor and evaluate curriculum) and project management and management competences in field of planning, coordinating and managing of activities aimed at education and acquiring the new sources of funding (participating management). The project activities are also devote to improve creation of the new service concepts, develop more satisfactory and efficient services for our organization.
