In the context of socio-political and economic crisis that crosses the continent is increasingly necessary to offer varied opportunities to young people, for whom the future, at the moment, it does not seem to be reserved perspectives in terms of job opportunities and active and conscious participation within the public sphere.
The present proposal aims to provide an opportunity for young Europeans from economic (Spain) or political and social (Ukraine) disadvantage conditions, aimed to deepen their professional skills as well as enrich the cultural and social experience through international mobility. The two volunteers selected for the European Voluntary Service show a profile directed to international volunteering through collaboration with various associations involved especially on the issue of social inclusion. The two volunteers will be involved in the activities of the National Secretariat of SCI-Italy, supporting the staff in various activities both inside and outside of the office, so having the opportunity to build a network with other associations and realities around SCI-Italy and collaborating with it, whether locally and nationally or internationally, placing the basis for future possible collaborations.
The activities of the volunteers will focus primarily on awareness and information on international volunteering as a tool for promoting active citizenship, as well as on the promotion of European citizenship among young people with fewer opportunities.
The methodology applied to the implementation of the project of European Voluntary Service is based on the principles of non-formal education. Therefore, each learning stage will focus on the needs of the two volunteers and will be organized in a horizontal and participatory way, encouraging interaction and supporting their activation. The tools will be those typically used in order to implement this method, such as brainstorming, watching movies, theater of the oppressed, role plays games.
The results can be measured at several levels: through weekly and monthly assessments - as well as the interim and final evaluation of the project - and through the continuous exchanges between the volunteers and the staff or activists of SCI-Italy. Participants in Erasmus+ Programme will grow in terms of capabilities - both conceptual and linguistic -, of development of knowledge and creativity, thanks to their involvement in a variety of activities during the year. Through the growth path they will live during the project, the volunteers at the end of the eight months will have all the tools to be able to reinvest the skills acquired in starting any professional collaborations in the fields of international volunteering and social inclusion, those for which the volunteers have shown interest.
The involved organizations will be strengthened both in terms of skills acquired as in terms of improved collaboration, in order to continuously improve the quality of the objectives and standards of the Erasmus+ Programme in the next calls.
With reference to the impacts and benefits in the long term, it is to emphasize that the project is based on a multiplier principle. The partner organizations will have the benefit of young people who re-feed into their activities with in-depth skills and sharpened tools. Thanks to the contribution of the volunteers, they will be able to expand and diversify their activities in the field of international volunteering in a broad sense and, in particular, in the area of social inclusion, as well as strengthen their network of relationships with other organizations working in the same areas .
