At present, very few exchanges on educational issues are listed between civil organisations in West-Flanders and Nord-Pas de Calais. The language barrier is often invoked as the key reason. However, both Belgiumand France have expertise, knowledge and methods from which the cross-border residents would benefit if they were systematically aligned. The partners put a new step forward by presenting themselves as reference group for the cross-border area and by targeting relay groups to enable a wider dissemination of development and international citizenshipeducation (EAD-CI) on the territory in the long run. They reflect upon possible actions and develop awareness-raising tools. They aim to improve mutual EAD-CI practices, bring cross-border populations together, strengthen the sense of belonging to the European Union and make the Euro-region a pioneer in cross-border EAD-CI-related initiatives.
