LeanXeur - Lean Training for SME's across Europe

LeanXeur aims at providing cost-effective, high quality and accessible lean training (lean is a concept concerned with increased competitiveness and productivity for businesses) aimed particularly at SME employees within the component manufacturing, food and engineering product-supply sectors. The project addresses a recognised difficulty for small companies with regards to individual competitiveness and aims to provide a rational, structured approach whereby SME's can systematically remove waste from their key processes thereby improving effectiveness, cycle time and customer responsiveness. The LeanXeur project will focus upon two key areas of activity, namely 'policy deployment' which assists companies in systematically identifying and prioritising their key processes and "value stream mapping" which promotes the dual activities of increasing added-value and eliminating waste from such processes. The project will initially undertake a survey amongst SME's, across the partner countries, within the 3 identified sectors, with results influencing the development of 'lean' training curricula for SME's. Training will consider teaching & learning methods, communications technologies, network support services and on-the-job activities. Project results will be tested with SME representatives from each of the 3 sectors with final results being made available in the languages of each of the partner countries (EN, SV, ES & PL). A further consideration for the project will be that of certification and qualification of "lean" training. Dissemination of the project results will rely upon the active use of a dedicated project website, with longer-term commercialisation of LeanXeur being considered by the project partnership.
