Leadership for Employability is a training course organised by Youth Europe Service (Y.E.S.) involving 22 young people aged 20-25, together with 6 trainers / support staff / volunteers, from 10 countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Estonia, Georgia, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey and UK). The course will take place in Potenza, Basilicata region, Italy, with a total duration of 8 days in September 2016.An intensive, innovative and challenging training programme is combined with exceptional social activities and visits, including visits to businesses, public organisations and NGOs, and meetings with leaders from different backgrounds. Participants will also benefit from a personal profile exercise normally available only to professionals in the corporate sector. The course is a unique opportunity for bright and motivated young people (including from from disadvantaged backgrounds or facing different kinds of exclusion) to understand leadership and develop their employability skills, led by internationally respected trainers. The strong pedagogical approach used combines non formal learning and practical challenges with in depth personal and group reflection and review, leading to potentially dramatic change. A major focus of the course for the participants themselves will be the concept of "personal branding" and values-based leadership. There will be a strong intercultural learning dimension. There will also be an emphasis on follow-up activity, with participants taking responsibility for delivering Erasmus+ promotional / dissemination events to youth groups in their home countries, thereby both putting leadership skills into practice and delivering benefits of international awareness to a wider audience. Participants will prepare for this through the main leadership challenge on this project, which will be to organise and deliver a public presentation of Erasmus+ opportunities for other young people. After the course, they will become empowered as young ambassadors for Erasmus+ around Europe through the EuroPeers network (where it exists) or similar initiatives in their countries.Apart from the Y.E.S. team, there will be trainers from our UK partner, Momentum World, which has specialised in international youth leadership and employability skills training over the last 7 years.Participants will get a deep understanding of their own leadership style, their career ambitions and motivations, and the next steps they need to take in their career development. During the programme all learning will be measured and recorded through the Youthpass 8 competency framework.Feedback from previous courses has been outstanding, with participants reporting that they have found jobs, new ideas and ambitions, a new level of self awareness, and (of course) new friends for life. The methodology on this project will be in the form of non-formal education / experiential learning.
